Cheran: The Purepecha Autonomous Region Under Attack.
The entire Cheran region is under attack by the Mexican government. Reports are developing, but the Indigenous Governing Council emitted a warning that covered the region. It warned of intense attacks and local reports indicate both riot police and armed civilian groups are partaking in violence against the native Purepecha people.
US State Department Well Aware of Danger In Mexico.
Likely forewarned by the Mexican government about local turmoil, the US State Department issued an advisory to both Guerrero and Michoacan. Both states have been the epicenters of major, high profile cases of forced disappearances. Not only that, but the states have major opposition groups with communist and anarchist roots; many groups openly define themselves as Native Mexicans. Both student and indigenous movements back autonomous government. They are also both frequently opposed to US backed capital development projects.
The US State Department is likely an attempt at preventing fratricide against their citizens by US backed forces. Recently, CIA Chief Mike Pompeo noted that his agency is watching Mexico 'closely'.
