Welcome to Acapulco: Guerrero's capital and coastal cities rocked by violence (10/30/2016)
Over the past week, dozens have been killed due to armed conflict, assisantions and criminality throughout México's troubled state of Guerrero, which recently saw a dip in foreign direct investment. In two days, nearly a dozen people died in gun related deaths in Acapulco.
La Cartita, Acalpulco, Guerrero (10/30/2016) --- Once again, the troubled state of Guerrero descends into a violent spiral. On Saturday, October 22, 2016, the head of the regional security task force ('Policia Preventiva') charged with protecting Acapulco, Guerrero was murdered in front of the local police headquarters, as seen below from correspondent's Bernardo Torres' twitter feed.

The next day of October 2 two youth were murdered in an Acapulco bakery. One of them,
Adriana Ramos Garcia, was a university medical student at the Autonomous University of Guerrero:

The same Sunday, October 23rd, 2016 in the state capital of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, another person
was shot dead while two other young men were murdered in the municipality of Atoyac:

Additionally, two local public transit drivers were kidnapped in Chilpancingo (they have not been heard from since), while in the coastal town of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, the son of an ex-mayor was also kidnapped:
Finally, in El Ocotito and Tierra Colorada 8 people died as a result of an armed conflict between community police that likely could have been prevented by the state government. Several civilian men opened fire on the FUSDEG group of autodefensas who in turn initiated a blockade to disarm the local official police department who is aligned with the UPOEG group of autodefensas. Local residents are calling this a civil war as distinct factions compete to control local and regional areas of security and fill a power vacuum left by a largely complacent and corrupt state government.
