Fuentes Berain stated “the one that protested yesterday (Monday, 9/28/2015) is the most radical one and is the one that commits acts of violence”. In other words, Fuentes Berain directly referenced the groups’ recent protest in front of Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto. The video of the protest went viral generating millions of combined views in different social media platforms.
At the time of this writing, a meeting between the group and the subconsul is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 1st, 2015, at the Mexican consulate to address the issue.
Updated on (11/9/2017): The meeting was refused by the SLO group and, instead, they referenced their case to the National Lawyers Guild for advice. No case was brought to court on either side. The actual suspect was later identified by the NYPD.
