Corridos music, also known as narcocorridos, has been a cultural staple in Mexico for more than a century. These narrative ballads tell stories of love, betrayal and criminal activity, and often glorify drug traffickers and their lavish lifestyles. But in recent years a new generation of corrido tumbados artists has emerged, combining traditional Mexican corridos with modern sounds and lyrics.
One of these rising stars is Peso Pluma, a Mexican artist known for his impeccable voice and catchy rhythms. On April 23, he took the stage at Sony Hall in New York City, in partnership with Sony Electronics, to promote the launch of the new ULT Power Sound series.
As fans anxiously awaited his performance, Peso Pluma took the stage, backed by a powerful seven-piece band. His energetic performance, with hits like “Rubicon” and “La Bebe (Remix),” kept the audience on their feet, dancing and singing along. But it was his latest single, “Peso Completo”, from his upcoming album Éxodo, that stole the show.
In an exciting duet with fellow Mexican singer-songwriter Jasiel Núñez, Peso Pluma showed the power and range of his voice. But it was also the sound quality that left the audience in awe. Sony’s new ULT TOWER 10 speakers promised an unparalleled listening experience with customizable sound settings. Peso Pluma expressed his excitement for this collaboration stating that there is nothing like it on the market.
