This Tuesday morning a tragedy occurred on Las Torres Avenue, near the Observatorio metro station in Mexico City. A concrete structure, part of the highly anticipated Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train project, collapsed onto two cars below, causing chaos and confusion among onlookers. The mayor of Álvaro Obregón, Lía Limón, pointed blame towards the federal government for carrying out works inadequately.

According to information obtained, the collapse of the structure was due to the excessive weight on the crane, which caused it to collapse. Eyewitnesses managed to capture images of the moment of the disaster, which have been shared on social networks.

Given the emergency, the corresponding authorities activated emergency services to provide assistance in the affected area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident, but it did generate significant criticism of the federal government and the safety measures implemented at construction sites.

The Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train is considered one of the most important projects of the current government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), as it seeks to connect Mexico City with Toluca through a modern and efficient transportation system. However, this unfortunate incident highlights the importance of carrying out adequate construction and maintenance processes in all public works, as well as guaranteeing the safety of citizens during their execution.
