Alphabet Inc and Microsoft are engaged in a race to come up with the best AI chatbot technology after Google released its Bard service to compete with the hugely successful ChatGPT by OpenAI.
Both services offer a similar service, allowing users to input a question or prompt and receive a human-like response. Google Bard is based on a language model known as LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications). LaMDA was trained on a dataset called Infiniset, which is a combination of content from the Internet that was chosen to increase the model’s conversation ability.
While ChatGPT is limited to a certain dataset. Bard is currently available only to testers but will be widely available in the coming weeks.
Other tech companies, such as Baidu, are also entering the fray with their AI services, as well as independent startups. This race for AI supremacy is sure to be an exciting one to watch.
