A violent incident rocked Times Square Thursday night, when three individuals attempted to rob a clothing store. The suspects were confronted by a security guard, prompting one of them to pull out a gun and fire. However, instead of hitting his target, the shot hit the leg of a female tourist inside the store. Meanwhile, two individuals fled, but one of them was detained by the police and taken in for questioning.
The alleged gunman, who is recognized as a Hispanic male between the ages of 15 and 20, managed to escape and headed towards Sixth Avenue, closely followed by a police officer. During the pursuit, the suspect fired two shots, but the officer was unable to respond due to the large number of people in the area. Eventually, the suspect escaped to a nearby subway station and ran into the system before disappearing.
The NYPD closed the area around 42nd Street and Broadway, including the subway entrance, as they continue to search for the suspect. So far, he has not been found and the search continues. In addition, the whereabouts of the third individual who was allegedly involved in the robbery incident are unknown.
