Insecurity increases in Barranquilla: Muggings in broad daylight

A new situation of insecurity has been reported in the city of Barranquilla, this time it occurred yesterday November 15 in broad daylight. According to witnesses, two people on a motorcycle approached two ladies who were walking along the sidewalk of what appears to be a busy avenue.

The two women were surprised by the criminals who intimidatingly demanded that they hand over their belongings. When one of the women refused, one of the individuals fell down and then pulled out a firearm, increasing the fear and tension in the area.

According to witness accounts, the two women resisted the robbery and began to scream for help. This allegedly caused the criminals to flee at full speed down the sidewalk without achieving their goal.

This unfortunate event has generated great concern among the inhabitants of Barranquilla, who every day see how insecurity seems to be increasing in the city. Local authorities, especially the mayor of Barranquilla, are asked to take more effective measures to ensure the safety of the population. Greater police presence in the streets and joint work with the community is needed to prevent and combat crime.
