The recent escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip has put many lives at risk. In response, the Mexican government has taken swift and decisive action to rescue its citizens and provide humanitarian aid.
The Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) announced its plan to send two planes to Israel to rescue the trapped Mexicans. The planes took off from the Santa Lucia air base in the State of Mexico. With approximately 16 hours of flight time, the first Boeing 737 arrived in Tel Aviv to rescue the stranded citizens. General Leobardo Avila of the Mexican Air Force stated that the aircraft made stops in Canada, Ireland and Turkey before arriving at its final destination.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Bárcena, confirmed the return of 143 Mexican citizens on a humanitarian flight operated by the Mexican Air Force, which arrived at the Mexico City’s airport last night. She also added that a second flight brought back an additional 144 Mexicans, making a total of 287 people safely repatriated.
he Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the cooperation between the Ministry and the Mexican Army, which prioritized the well-being and safety of vulnerable groups such as children, elderly citizens, and people with medical conditions.
Unfortunately, amidst the chaos and tension, there were reports of two Mexicans being taken hostage by an extremist group. This further emphasizes the urgency of the situation and the need for immediate action. With the Mexican government’s commitment to protecting its citizens at the forefront, efforts are being made to ensure the safe return of all Mexican nationals in the conflict zone.
