La Cartita --- An Oklahoma woman residing in Mexico was arrested for armed robbery in public transportation buses. Puebla municipal authorities distributed the information via their twitter handle. The case involved federal police as well, likely due to the overlap in authorities because the robbery involved federally subsidized transport. The possible involvement of an American woman could have also motivated Federal Police involvement too.
Americans are known to commit crimes in Mexico, but often the local US consulate intervenes on their behalf if the optics results in an embarrasment for their government. The U.S. embassy has likely been notified and her migration status is now being evaluated.
