As Pretext For More US Intervention, Unlikable US Senators Allege Russian Interference in Mexican Elections

Ricardo Lezama (1/31/2018) --- Unlikable US Senators, Marco Rubio and Bob Menendez, raised false claims on Russian interference in Mexico's election in a letter to Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson. Rather than focus on the real harm US policies have on Mexico's democracy, the Gusano senators are alleging there is Russian interference in Mexico's upcoming election favoring Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's candidacy. In reality, they are peddling a lie to further the ability for the US to intervene in Mexico's election and swing it to the far-right party, the PAN.

Since 2007, the United States has shipped weapons to Mexico's current regime through the Merida Initiative. Due to this constant US shipment of weapons to Mexico's current government, more than 200,000 people have been killed violently. 30,000 Mexicans have been forcibly disappeared due to Mexico's rampant drug wars and military abuses.

Aside: Banda, this is the contact information of Robert Menendez: 202 224-4744. He is a New Jersey Senator who had corruption charges withdrawn, but many questions about his activity were left unanswered during a federal jury in Newark, New Jersey. Let these people know what you think about their interference in Mexican affairs.

The constant use of violence by the Mexican and US government is designed to control Mexico's vibrant social movements. Genocidal maniacs, like current Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, continue to strengthen their control over the country with new caches of weapons for both state and non-state actors.

Rather than focus on the actual harm caused by US policies, the 2 US Senators lobbying the State Department are amplifying the claims made by discredited author Enrique Krauze in a Washington Post article. Democrat and Republican senators have opted to villify Russias government in order to advance their own nefarious plans abroad. These may serve as useful distractions for sinking poll numbers and corruption trials.

Robocalls Allege Falsely That Russia Wants Mexico Oil

Despite Mexico's oil privatization stemming from US policies linked to failed Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, the US's preferred far right parties in Mexico, the "PAN" and "PRI", are launching a robocall campaign to engage potential voters in the conservative state of Puebla. The calls are alleging that the Russian government wants to claim Mexico's oil. Nothing can be further from the truth. The call also references Krauze's false claims about Russian links to Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's campaign.

Even If True, Mexicans Actually Like Russia

Typical of Mexico's far-right mudslinging campaign, the anti-Russian robocalls seek to raise doubts and fears on Mexico's usual leftist candidate, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. Unfortunately, for the callers, no Mexicans are believing it. No one in Mexico would even look at Russian policies or linked candidates as a bad thing. The Russians have not privatized oil, called Mexicans rapists, or sought to privatize education, health or shipped guns to right-wing cartels.

Total Conspiracy: Mexico and Russia Are Friends

In the midst of the claims that there is Russian interference in Mexico's elections, the US will meet with hated Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto on Friday. State Department head Rex Tillerson is set to visit Mexico's president then, and is expected to enhance current intelligence and military operations between the two states. Mexico's leadership is increasingly invested in maintaining stable relations because of their links to US based businesses. Mexicans believe that both the current government of Enrique Peña Nieto and Donald J Trump are intending to impose a more subservient candidate.

Mexico and Russia have enjoyed friendly ties in academic and economic domains for centuries. As one of the first countries to recognize the Russian state post Bolshevik revolution, the Mexican government has always maintained cordial relations with the Russian government. The Mexican people and government by extension have sought to avoid ideological drama for decades. From the Cold War to contemporary times, the Mexican government and economy has actually deepened positive links, with trade skyrocketing during the year of 2017 with Russia.

Conclusion: Stay The Fuck Out, Gusanos

Without it actually affecting the day to day experience of their constituents, two Gusano senators have waded into Mexican politics. Marco Rubio and Bob Menendez' bipartisan bullshit proves that the US political system is tethered to Mexican misery. Rather than remain quiet and allow Mexicans to choose their leadership, these two US Senators have opted to back the ruling party and raise false claims because it enhances the ability for the US to further intervene in Mexico. Stay alert, Chicanos.
