Blackberry $BB Sues Facebook $FB For Patent Infringement

La Cartita --- Software company, Blackberry ($BB: NYSE) is suing Facebook ($FB) for patent infringement related to its FB messenger product. Among the noted infringements is the "broad concept of using icons with numeric badges to signal the arrival of new messages" commonly used by a user to understand which message is most recent. Tagging photos with the names of individuals via an autocomplete search box is another feature used by Facebook in a manner alleged to infringe on the Canadian company's intellectual property. Blackberry currently makes Android OS powered Blackberry smartphones, noted for its physical keyboard still and enterprise level cryptographic key protected messaging. TLC, a Chinese State corporation, is now charged with making the Blackberry phone, noted for its screen durability.

The company $BB Blackberry licenses its brand name to Chinese and Indian phone makers. TCL corporation handles most Blackberry production, with its US exporting assembly plant in Mexico. (Photo: PRIV1)
