Clinton Knows Fighting Drug War Pushes Trafficking To Neighboring Countries (10/15/2016)

US ex-president, Bill Clinton (known as WJC in Wikileaks' trove of hacked Podesta emails) is concerned that Plan Colombia has an unintended effect: US intervention just moves production and trafficking activity to neighboring countries.

La Cartita --- According to a note from Amitabh Desai (Hillary staffer) to John Podesta (Clinton campaign chairman), US ex-president, Bill Clinton (known as WJC in Wikileaks' trove of hacked Podesta emails) is concerned that Plan Colombia has an unintended effect: it just moves production and trafficking activity to neighboring countries. This email was sent years after Hillary Clinton pushed for the Merida Initiative.

The leaked email says: "WJC has mentioned a few times his concerns that Plan Colombia has been so effective that it pushed narco-trafficking into Central America." The email is also sent as both Podesta and Desai analyze proposals to ratchet up anti-drug related initiatives to Central America.

Finally, we should note that Clinton (Hillary) is a major factor in the increased militarization and violence in Central America. Most notably, Berta Caceres, a slain environmental activist, slammed Clinton for her crucial role in backing the military coup that deposed the last democratically elected president, Manuel Zelaya. This single factor - more than any other regional or drug related factor - increased the same violence policy planners invoke as justification for sustained intervention.
