In California, the city of San Francisco has moved towards greater embracement of it's solidly Mexican history and people. Today, the street 'Frida Kahlo Way', near the site of San Francisco City College was inaugurated. Phelan, the name of racist ex-mayor's family, was replaced with the Mexican icon's name last Friday, December 7, 2018.

Frida Kahlo was known as a revolutionary painter even during her time. Even so, her paintings are valued in the millions, with 'Las dos Fridas' fetching upwards of 5 million dollars. In 2016, the painting was curated and hosted at the Museum of Modern Art.
